Security & toll fraud protection

How WorldDial safeguards balances, why some countries may not connect immediately, and what we learned during beta testing.

Configure audio before you call

Choose your microphone, test audio, and copy diagnostics if you need support. Speaker selection is available on desktop browsers; on mobile, use your phone's speaker or Bluetooth during a call.

Account

How do I create an account?â–Ľ
Click Sign Up and enter your details. Registration takes less than one minute. No credit card required.

Payments

How do I add credit?â–Ľ
Go to your wallet and select Add Credit. Payments are processed securely through Stripe.

Calls

Why can't I connect a call?â–Ľ
Check your internet connection, your credit balance, and the phone number format (E.164, e.g. +27…). Allow the microphone in the browser. Some destinations may be blocked by our carrier’s geographic rules until enabled as lower-risk, try again after a moment or contact support. Your recent attempts appear in Call history at the bottom of the dialer. After a call that ends with no connected time, we show a quick diagnostic; on the Pricing tab you can run “Verify number & estimate cost” anytime.

Audio & calling

Do I need to install an app?â–Ľ
No. Calls work directly from your browser.
Can I call landlines?â–Ľ
Yes.
Can I call mobile phones?â–Ľ
Yes.
Why can't I hear the other person?â–Ľ
Check your speaker volume, the selected output device in Audio Settings, and run the speaker test. On phones, audio may use the earpiece until you switch to speaker in your device settings.
Why can't the other person hear me?â–Ľ
Check microphone permissions in your browser, verify the selected microphone in Audio Settings, and run the microphone test.
Can I use speakerphone?â–Ľ
Yes. Open Audio Settings on the dialer and select your preferred audio output device. Browser support varies; Chrome and Edge on desktop work best.
Which browsers are supported?â–Ľ
Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers are recommended. Safari and Firefox work for calls but speaker selection may be limited.

Call diagnostics & destinations

Why won’t my call go through?▼
Common causes: invalid number format, destination not in our rate table, wallet below the minimum to start a call, or carrier-side blocks (for example geographic permissions). Use the callability check on the Pricing tab to see the most likely reason for your exact number.
How do I check if a number is callable?â–Ľ
Open the Pricing tab, enter country, full number, and call duration, then tap “Verify number & estimate cost”. You’ll see callability, country, optional line type (when lookup is enabled), risk level, price per minute, and estimated total for that duration.
Can you enable a country or number type for me?â–Ľ
Often yes. Email support with the full number, country, and what you’re trying to reach (landline, mobile, toll-free, etc.). We review fraud risk and pricing, then enable destinations or categories when policy allows.

Pricing

How much does a call cost?â–Ľ
Rates depend on destination and number type. You can view the exact rate before calling in the Pricing tab.

Security & trust (FAQ)

What is toll fraud?â–Ľ
Toll fraud is when bad actors try to generate expensive calls using automation or stolen accounts. WorldDial reduces this risk with prepaid balance checks, cautious destination policy, carrier protections (including Twilio), and monitoring. You are not charged for connected time when a call fails to set up properly.
Why can't I call every country?â–Ľ
Some destinations stay off by default until classified as lower-risk, and carriers enforce geographic permissions. That protects users and keeps pricing fair. If you need a specific country for legitimate use, contact support.
Is my balance safe?â–Ľ
Yes. You add credit voluntarily; we verify balance before calls; you pay for connected time per our pricing. See your Call history at the bottom of the dialer for every attempt. For details, read our Security & trust article.

Refunds

Can I get a refund?â–Ľ
Yes. Contact support and we will review your request.
