How the call path works

WorldDial is a browser-based dialer. When you place a call, audio from your microphone travels over the internet to WorldDial, which connects the other leg to the public telephone network (PSTN). The person you call sees a normal incoming call on their mobile or landline.

  • Your side: laptop or desktop browser, microphone, and internet
  • Middle: WorldDial bridges web audio to the phone network
  • Their side: standard phone, no WorldDial account, no internet required

Why the recipient does not need an app

Many business tools assume both parties install software. That fails with factory switchboards, airline reservation desks, government offices, and customers who prefer their mobile.

WorldDial outbound calls behave like calls from any other phone line. If the number is reachable on the telephone network and supported in WorldDial's rate table, they pick up as usual.

What you need on your side

  • A modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
  • A microphone, built-in or headset
  • Stable internet, wired or Wi-Fi recommended for longer calls
  • A WorldDial account with sufficient credit for the destination

Typical business scenarios

Teams use the browser dialer when they are between meetings, working remotely, or travelling without a desk phone.

  • Call a supplier's office line to confirm shipment paperwork
  • Reach a client's landline when they do not check email on weekends
  • Phone a hotel front desk to amend a group booking
  • Dial an overseas service provider published as a geographic number

Some toll-free and special-service numbers do not connect from abroad. Verify on the rates page first.

Frequently asked questions

Which browsers are supported?
Recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge work. Allow microphone access when prompted.
What caller ID does the recipient see?
Caller ID varies by route and destination. Do not assume your personal mobile number appears. Introduce yourself clearly at the start of the call.
Can I dial extensions or navigate IVR menus?
Yes. Use the keypad in the dialer to send DTMF tones during the call for menus and extensions.
Does the other person need internet?
No. They receive a standard phone call on the mobile or landline network.
Can I use WorldDial on my phone browser?
A desktop or laptop browser is more reliable for business calls. Mobile browsers may work but are not the primary experience.
What if the call does not connect?
Check that the destination is listed on the rates page, confirm number format including country code, and try a short test call. Failed connection attempts are not charged.
