How to dial
Use one of these origin formats:

- ›00 20 plus the same digits from a UK landline that still needs the international access prefix
Ofcom's National Telephone Numbering Plan designates 00 as access to international telephone numbers from the UK. + is a substitute on many mobiles. Do not assume every device accepts the same input.

The ITU E.164 list assigns 20 to Egypt. Egypt's ITU national numbering plan lists geographic area code 2 for Cairo (nine-digit national numbers in that table). Mobile service uses NDC 01; later NTRA updates lengthened mobile numbers. A prefix is a format hint, not proof of the current network. NTRA publishes numbering policy at tra.gov.eg.

When 0800 is the wrong number
Egyptian 0800 is a non-geographic range in the ITU numbering snapshot (that table labels 0800 as premium-rate). Do not assume a domestic 0800 number will work from the UK or that it is free. Use the number the organisation publishes for international callers.

Time difference
Egypt uses EET (UTC+2) in winter. Law 24 of 2023 advances clocks by 60 minutes from the last Friday of April through the last Thursday of October, so summer time is UTC+3. Versus the UK that is often two hours ahead in winter and one or two hours ahead in summer, depending on UK BST. Confirm the offset on the day you call.
